WWDC 2016: Here's all the new features Apple will announce for your iPhone, iPad, MacBook

APPLE will kickstart its annual developer conference – WWDC – next week. CEO Tim Cook's opening keynote will offer Apple device owners an early glimpse at the latest iterations of iOS, OS X, tvOS and watchOS. Here's what you can expect to see

Apple is expected to unveil what it has in the pipeline for its best-selling iPhone

Apple's annual developer conference, WWDC, will start at 6pm GMT on June 13th in the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, San Francisco, California.
The iPhone creator is expected to unveil what it has in the pipeline for its best-selling iPhone, iPad, MacBook, Apple TV and Apple Watch operating systems.
Fans will get a glimpse at iOS 10, OS X 10.12, watchOS 3.0 and tvOS 10. Although the finalised updates will probably not launch until the autumn when Apple unveils new hardware.
Apple is also expected to reveal an overhauled Apple Music streaming service, as well as improved Apple Pay, and a dramatically improved Siri.
Express.co.uk has rounded-up the latest rumours and leaks surrounding the Worldwide Developers Conference.
Here are some of the innovations you can expect to see –

For its tenth iteration of iOS, Apple is reportedly adding a number of new features and apps

iOS 10

Last year's iOS 9 was focused on refining, tweaking and streamlining the slew of new capabilities introduced in iOS 8.
For its tenth iteration of iOS, Apple is reportedly adding a number of new features and apps to its hugely-successful operating system.
And centre-stage for the latest version of iOS is Siri.
The talkative voice assistant may soon be able to tell a caller why you are unable to pick-up the phone, and transcribe any voicemail messages so you can read them on-the-go or in a loud venue.
This clever new functionality is expected to be bundled as part of a new Apple service dubbed iCloud Voicemail.
Apple is also rumoured to announce a full SDK for Siri, finally allowing third-party developers to tap into the virtual assistant to perform custom actions for their apps.

iPhones are rumoured to come with a brand-new Apple service called iCloud Voicemail
Elsewhere, Apple is expected to announce some changes to its contactless payment service, Apple Pay.
The Cupertino company could let iOS users send money between devices with a tap or a transaction through iMessage, enabling Apple Pay to become a true replacement for PayPal.
And Android smartphone owners might finally be able to use Apple iMessage, thanks to the rumoured release of the app on the Google Play Store.
iMessage on Android would reportedly offer users the same end-to-end encryption and chat experience currently available on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Apple has previously revealed some 200,000 iMessages are sent each second around the world.
By making its messenger truly cross-platform, Apple could have a true competitor to WhatsApp on its hand. It could also offer the same seamless hand-off experience iPhone and Mac owners currently enjoy to those with Android devices in their pockets.
Apple is also expected to announce plans to launch Apple Music in new countries during its WWDC 2016 keynote.
iOS 10 should also bring improvements to the in-built Photos app.
Apple stripped back a number of editing features when this photo management tool replaced iPhoto across iOS and OS X.
But the stripped-down Photos will get a number of features in iOS 10 that should bring it up to speed with the now-discontinued iPhoto 2.0.1.
And as usual, these features will be synced between your iOS and OS X devices.

HomeKit and Siri Speaker

Apple is expected to unveil a software development kit, or SDK, for its virtual assistant Siri.
This would allow third-party developers to add support for Siri into their apps for the first time, which would make the iOS assistant much more useful.
So, you could ask Siri to get you directions via Google Maps, rather than being thrown to Apple Maps.
This announcement appears to be part of a renewed focus on the connected home.
Apple is believed to be hard at work on a rival to Amazon Echo and Google Home device, powered by Siri.

A look at the new iPhone SE

The device would be self-aware and could detect who is in the room using advanced facial recognition technology, according to sources.
Once it has recognised who is talking, the clever Apple speaker could pull-up that person’s preferences, including their favourite Apple Music playlists or preferred lightning levels around the home. Apple's device will obey voice commands via Siri and will sync with third-party smart home hardware via HomeKit.

macOS 10.12

Apple is expected to rebrand its desktop operating system at WWDC.
OS X 10.12, the successor to OS X 10.11 El Capitan, will reportedly be renamed to macOS to fit with the naming convention established by other Apple devices – iOS, watchOS, tvOS.
Whereas last year’s update focused on refinements, bug fixes and performance optimisations, Apple is expected to unveil some never-before-seen features this year.
The headline addition to macOS will be Siri integration. The new and improved voice assistant will be accessible in the menu bar as well as a designated icon in the dock.
Siri on the desktop is expected to perform the same actions as it does on iOS, so expect to be able to launch apps, play music, and answer your queries.
Alongside the introduction of Siri, macOS could also include a new version of iTunes with a redesigned Apple Music interface that matches the changes planned for iOS later this year.
Apple Pay may work for payments made in your Safari browser on the desktop, and users could also forgo a password and unlock their macOS devices with Touch ID on their iPhone.
The Photos app will also get new features to match its iOS counterpart.

watchOS 3.0, Apple Watch 2

Apple could use its annual developer conference to unveil its second-generation smartwatch, Apple Watch 2.
Little is known about the device and the operating system it will run, but most analysts agree the wearable will be significantly thinner than its predecessor.
Some rumours point to the addition of a FaceTime camera embedded into the Apple Watch, allowing wearers to make and receive video calls.
Another prominent rumours suggests Apple Watch 2 will boast a faster wifi chipset to make data transfer smoother and improve performance.
Apple is also expected to introduce some models with 3G or 4G connectivity.
This would allow Apple Watch owners more autonomy, since the device would not need to be in constant communication with a paired iPhone.

Apple Music

According to multiple sources, Apple is working on its first end-to-end overhaul of Apple Music.
The updated Apple Music will roll-out across iOS devices, the companion Android app and alongside a new version of iTunes for OS X this autumn.
The refreshed Apple Music and Music app will ditch the bright colours and translucency of the current iteration in favour of a stripped-back, simpler black-and-white design.
According to 9To5Mac, Apple Music will no longer adapt its appearance based on the colours used in album artwork.
Instead, clean black-and-white backgrounds will be used across the app, with more emphasis placed on text. Apple is looking to make better use of its new in-house font, San Francisco, with larger bold menu titles and tabs.

Apple hopes to avoid a monotonous look within the new app by placing huge emphasis on album artwork, which makes the new look appear "bolder, yet simpler," according to people who have seen the updated Apple Music.
Redesigned from the ground-up, the new iOS app will use 3D Touch shortcuts to better effect, too.
Apple also plans to ditch the New tab, which contains a confusing mix of top charts, new artists, featured albums and curated playlists, in favour of a new tab dubbed, Browse.
For You is also expected to see a major update, thanks to a simplified user interface that should let music fans quickly access the recommended songs and artists.
According to sources familiar with Apple's plans, the algorithms that powers the recommendations in the For You tab will not change.
Alongside the stripped-back new look, Apple is also expected to introduce some new features to the service during its WWDC developer conference.
The Cupertino company is believed to be working with record labels on a new deal that would see its music service automatically populated with lyrics.
Although Apple Music already has the ability to scroll through lyrics while a song is playing, music fans currently need to sync the lyrics with the track themselves via iTunes on the Mac.

Top 10 Affordable New Models Of 2016

Last month we brought you the Top 10 Most Anticipated Bikes of 2016. For February, let’s take a look at the most affordable new bikes of 2016, because, well, a lot of the bikes in that other list are pricey: XDiavelBrutale 800Super Duke GT … you get the picture. There already exist a lot of motorcycles in the sub-$10k price category, and here’s 10 more new models joining that list. From retro to modernistic, cruiser to sportbike, on-road to off, there’s a little something for everyone in this list.

A few of the prices we had to guesstimate due to the unavailability of an official MSRP, butMO editors have won the Price is Right Showcase Showdown 32 times, so we’re fairly confident in our pricing prognostications. We’ll begin with the most expensive bikes on the list and work our way down. Let’s kick this list off with two very similar new models from Moto Guzzi.

10. Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber & Roamer

At $8,990 the V7 II Stone is the most affordably priced model in the Moto Guzzi lineup, and winner of our HepCat TooCool Millennial Shootout. Producing only 41 horsepower and 40 lb-ft of torque from its 744cc, the V7 II is somewhat underpowered. With the announcement of a new 850cc V-Twin engine – the V9 – powering two new models, Bobber and Roamer, we’re expecting big things from the two new bikes.

9. Indian Scout 60

So impressed were we with the first Indian Scout we named it our 2015 Motorcycle of the Year. For 2016, Indian is following up the success of the Scout with the more affordably priced Scout 60. What’s the difference between the two? For $2300 less ($8,999 vs $11,299) the Scout 60 comes with one less gear (five vs six) and 134 fewer cubic centimeters (999cc vs 1133cc).

8. KTM 690 Duke

It may just be a glorified thumper, but KTM’s 690 Duke is certainly the overachiever in this list. At $8,999 the new 2016 model retains the same MSRP of the old 690 Duke it’s replacing.

7. Triumph Street Twin

It’s almost impossible for 2016 to be a bigger model year for Triumph than it already is. This year the Hinckley factory will launch  two new Speed Triples, an expanded family ofExplorersthree new engines powering five new Bonnevilles, and then there’s the recentspy photos of another new Bonneville. The most affordable among all of these is the newStreet Twin – an $8,700 Bonneville powered by a new liquid-cooled 900cc parallel-Twin. “The OG British Superbike, circa 1965, takes on an entirely new character in the new Street Twin, a modern classic set to inspire a new generation,” says old-is-new-again editor, Burnsie, in his 2016 Triumph Street Twin First Ride Review.

6. Yamaha XSR900

The XSR900 is the third iteration utilizing Yamaha’s potent 847cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline three-cylinder. Both the FZ-09 and FJ-09 have won numerous shootouts here at MO and, since the mechanically alike XSR is largely a styling exercise, it should exhibit similar performance qualities and continue the Triple’s winning tradition. Yamaha is releasing the pricing details February 16, but knowing the 2016 FZ-09 retails for an incredibly affordable $8,190, we’d be surprised if the XSR’s price strayed far from that figure. Even Vale seems to think this is a cool new bike.

5. Ducati Scrambler Sixty2

Eight grand for an air-cooled 400cc motorcycle seems a little steep to us, but theScrambler Sixty2 is a Ducati and it’s cool. So, maybe that’s all it needs to demand its premium asking price. It’s $7995 MSRP got it to fifth place in this Top 10, though, so the Sixty2 remains a relatively affordable new model for 2016. But don’t take our word for it. Here’s a lovely video chock full of surfing, skating, motorcycling millennials having the time of their lives with the Scrambler Sixty2.

4. Suzuki SV650

According to Suzuki, the new SV650 is returning to all the elements that made the original SV a cult classic – but with more of everything. The 645cc liquid-cooled V-Twin has been updated with more than 60 new parts, boasting more low-to-mid range horsepower and torque, as well as improved fuel economy and lower emissions. The SV’s updated chassis incorporates more than 70 new parts and components, and when combined with the new steel truss frame, equals a weight reduction of 15 pounds over the previous model.
Top 10 Reasons The Suzuki SV650 Is A Great Bike
Like Yamaha and its XSR900, Suzuki is keeping a tight lip on the SV650’s retail price. We can, however, approximate from the $7,599 MSRP of the Kawasaki Ninja 650 ABS that to remain competitive, the new SV should be priced somewhere near the Ninja. We estimate the SV will be priced around the $8,000 mark. New SVs are targeted to be available in dealers in late spring to early summer.

3. Honda CBR500R

The 2016 Honda CBR500R was aggressively restyled to more closely resemble itsCBR600RR and CBR1000RR counterparts. In addition to its new styling, the CBR500R also receives new LED headlights and taillights, a lighter muffler design for better mass centralization and an “improved” exhaust note, according to Honda. Other additions include an adjustable front brake lever, smoother gear change feel, a larger fuel tank with hinged cap, and preload-adjustable front suspension. The 2016 Honda CBR500R will be available in Red, Matte Black Metallic and Pearl White, starting in early 2016 with an MSRP of $6,499.

2. BMW G310R

BMW’s forthcoming G310R will be the smallest displacement motorcycle in the OEM’s model lineup since forever. With S1000R styling cues, and powered by a 313cc Single with a slightly rearward canted cylinder and reverse-mounted cylinder head, the G310R is looking to make a splash in the small-displacement category. But, as editor of all things tiny, Troy Siahaan points out in his BMW G310R Versus The World article, the G310R is joining some already established models as well as a few more new ones that will most likely be joining the fun soon. BMW hasn’t announced the G310R’s pricing, but to be competitive against the likes of Honda’s CB300F ($3,999) or KTM’s 390 Duke ($4999) it should be $5k or less (Honda’s CB500F is $5,799). As soon as BMW releases the G310R’s MSRP, we’ll let ya know.

1. CSC TT250

For a limited time, if you put a $1,000 deposit on CSC’s new TT250, you can purchase the bike for $1,895 – a brand new 250cc motorcycle for under $2k! When the special event ends, the retail price for the TT250 will be $2,495, which remains an incredibly good deal by any new-bike standards. We tested CSC’s RX3 Cyclone about a year ago and came away impressed with its performance and craftsmanship. The new TT model looks to match the RX3 in those categories but in a package reminiscent of a Honda CRF250L ($4,995).
2016 CSC TT250 Announced, With $1895 Introductory Price
TT250 models should be available by March. We’ve already requested a test unit and will be bringing you a full review, as well as shootout against its competition, in the near future. For more information or to order, visit cscmotorcycles.com or call (909) 445-0900.

Jorge Mendes: The man behind soccer's 'craziest deals'

The days leading up to September 1 were especially hectic for Jorge Mendes.
The super agent to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and two-time- Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who was sacked by the club in December 2015, had been working several big deals in European football over the previous few weeks, but the final hours on transfer day deadline proved especially frantic
And with time fast approaching midnight in London, the headlines came flooding in.
Whether they were making eye-watering record-breakers or bureaucratic busts -- not to mention whether the 49-year-old with the slick tan was even representing the high-profile footballer -- Mendes appeared to be linked to every deal.

There was his client David de Gea's down-to-the-wire finger-pointing mishap between Real Madrid and Manchester United. There was defender Nicolas Otamendi's $44 million move from Valencia to Manchester City, and to cap it off there was even Anthony Martial's deal which brought him to Manchester United from AS Monaco, breaking the teenage transfer record along the way.
Martial's move raised a few eyebrows. Just how did the fee rise so quickly -- from $34 million just a week before deadline before swelling to a hammer price of $55.5 million -- for a 19-year-old who had only 11 goals in 53 senior-level appearances to his name?
Interestingly, Mendes, who refused CNN's interview request via a representative at his agency GestiFute, was reportedly called in by Manchester United to act as a consultant on the deal -- and that may have been the difference maker, says one fellow agent who has been friendly with Mendes since he started out in the business.

"He was obviously very influential in affecting the player's price," Barry Silkman, who once represented former Barcelona star David Villa, told CNN. "Jorge with his influence probably added value of 40%."

    Paying for potential

The clout established by the super agent allows him to do more than simply get deals done. He can also lift the price of a player on the back of his endorsement -- not necessarily on the open market, but, crucially, to the front office executives on his speed dial.
In this case, the $16 million premium Mendes may have lumped onto the Martial deal was misplaced, says Silkman, who enjoyed a 17-season career as a professional footballer in England before settling in as an agent in the 1990s.
"Is he worth it?" he asks. "The answer obviously is no. It's probably, in this moment in time, one of the craziest deals done in the history of football."

United's fans might disagree given Martial's sizzling debut goal at Old Trafford last weekend against Liverpool and the two goals he scored against Southampton Sunday, but Silkman says the French international still has a lot to prove.
"When you look at this player, the reality is there is not a human being in the world who can possibly value him at £40 million ($62 million)," he insists. "He hasn't achieved anything ...you can't pay that for potential."
For his part, Mendes plays down any hype about his ability to shape teams or create astronomical value in world football.
"People have the wrong idea about agents," Mendes said recently in a (rare) interview with the BBC. "Being an agent means many different things. I'm someone normal; I'm working hard every day. I have ambition, determination, and (value) being honest and doing the right things."
Even though Mendes does not act on behalf of Martial, he had been active in so many deals involving both Monaco and Manchester United over the past few years, that he was erroneously reported by the British press as being the player's agent.
Martial's actual agent Philippe Lamboley told CNN he knows nothing about Mendes' reported involvement in the deal, nor is he concerned with such minor details: "I don't know at all, it doesn't interest me," he said.
Still, it's not unreasonable to think: no Mendes, no deal. Or, more likely, no Mendes, no $55.5 million.
"I would say United have probably relied heavily on what he said," Silkman explains. "Because of the Cristiano Ronaldo complex people do listen to Jorge, and they take notice of what he says."

    Mendes, Inc.

Mendes' ties to Manchester United began back in 2003, when an 18-year-old kid with bad skin and greasy hair was handed the number seven jersey after signing from Sporting Lisbon for $19 million.
It would arguably turn into the most lucrative investment a professional sports team ever made in an athlete, netting United three Premier League titles, one Champions League trophy and over $100 million from Ronaldo's sale to Real Madrid in 2009.
It was, in essence, the launch of Mendes, Inc.
"Cristiano Ronaldo made Jorge Mendes, 100%," says Silkman of the agent who only eight years prior to that deal was managing a nightclub outside of Porto.
"You have to remember that when Cristiano Ronaldo was at Sporting Lisbon, Mendes wasn't doing any big deals."
Silkman says he first met Mendes when he was shopping Ronaldo around to Premiership clubs, including Chelsea, who he was asked to approach, before the Portuguese star joined Manchester United.
Once that high-profile signing was completed, it drew other players to the dealmaker, says Silkman: "Mendes (was) just a normal agent, but with Cristiano Ronaldo's move to United, it opened the door for him."

Miguel Cuesta Rubio, who co-wrote the Mendes biography "Jorge Mendes: The Special Agent," agrees: "Of course, when you have Ronaldo it sends a (loud message) to the other players, and one goes to the next."
"Jorge and Cristiano Ronaldo have been a perfect match for each other, and Jorge has been very clever," adds Silkman. "In fact, as Cristiano Ronaldo has grown, so has Jorge Mendes."
And as the two have climbed to the top of their respective fields over the past decade, they have maintained a close friendship highlighted by Ronaldo's appearance as best man to Mendes' wedding in August.
And what do you buy an agent who has everything? A Greek island, supposedly.
Aside from Ronaldo, Mendes' wedding guest list showcased a who's who of world football.
In attendance were many of his star players, like former Barcelona midfielder Deco, former Chelsea defender Jose Bosingwa and Nuno -- Mendes' first client and current coach at Valencia -- along with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
"He is not only an agent to the football players, he's also an agent to the clubs," says Rubio, who met with Mendes about 10 times for his book project. "He tries to look after all their interests, not only the interests of the players."
In Portugal, Mendes' dominance is so established that between 2001-2010 he is said to have brokered 68% of transfer fees at the biggest three Portuguese clubs -- Porto, Benfica and Sporting Lisbon.
The statistic was brandished in a 2012 investment prospectus for an offshore fund which sought to invest in players' economic rights that Mendes, along with former United and Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon, were co-advisers on.
The practice of third-party ownership, where businessmen purchase "shares" in a player's value and benefit from his transfer fee, was commonplace in South America and parts of Europe, but was banned by FIFA earlier this year.

    The French Connection

Perhaps no club exemplifies the web Mendes weaves in European football as much as AS Monaco, which Silkman says he "knows for a fact" has a financial agreement with the agent to sell its players.
The statement is not surprising. The connection between the team and Mendes has been made by football writers ever since Russian owner Dmitry Rybolovlev purchased AS Monaco in 2011 (detailed best in a series of articles by David Conn of the Guardian).
AS Monaco would not comment on its transfer arrangements, except to say that the club works with many agents aside from Mendes. The two Manchester clubs also declined to comment, as did Real Madrid, Chelsea, Valencia, Porto, Sporting Lisbon, Benfica and Al Wasl, who were all contacted by CNN regarding their dealings with the Portuguese agent.
It does appear that Mendes is trusted by billionaire club owners like Rybolovlev and Valencia's Peter Lim for his ability to create wealth on the pitch. In a recent match between the two sides, the Portuguese agent reportedly represented a number of players on each team, as well as Valencia's coach.
Another deal Mendes facilitated for Rybolovlev was a mini-version of the Ronaldo jackpot: a one-year flip of Colombian striker James Rodriguez which netted Monaco $50 million (the buyer again being Real Madrid).

For these transfers and dozens of others, Mendes was acting not only on behalf of his clients -- the stars sweating and sliding all over the pitch -- but also on behalf of the teams who engaged in the buying and selling of them.
If Mendes worked on Wall Street, he'd be a stock broker taking a cut of every trade -- at a reported average of 10% -- and an investment adviser compensated by all the big hedge funds.
In other words, it would never happen.
But this is world football, a sport whose biggest governing body FIFA is in turmoil, which legal experts say has left a gaping regulatory hole without an SEC-equivalent to police transactions.
In fact, just last April FIFA decided to wash its hands away from overseeing agents to any degree at all, tossing the job over to each country's individual football association.

World's highest-paid athletes: Cristiano Ronaldo tops Forbes 2016 list

He's just won the Champions League with Real Madrid -- and now Cristiano Ronaldo can celebrate being the world's highest-paid athlete, too.
Forbes estimates that Portugal captain Ronaldo, who will be one of the biggest stars at Euro 2016 in France, earned a staggering $88 million (£60.4m) last year.
That puts him clear at the top of the American business magazine's annual compilation of the world's 100 highest-paid athletes -- and it means he is again ahead of Barcelona rival Lionel Messi, with the pair having finished third and fourth last year.
Argentina's Messi earned $81.4m this year as soccer's two biggest stars rung the changes at the pinnacle of the list.
It is the first time since 2000 that either golfer Tiger Woods -- who drops to 12th after a wretched run of poor form and injury problems -- or boxer Floyd Mayweather has not headed the table.
The Forbes data reveals that the top 100 athletes earned an amazing $3.15 billion between them over the past 12 months.
That eye-watering figure actually represents a slight decrease from last year, when the overall $3.2 billion tally was boosted by the $460m fight between Mayweather -- nicknamed Money -- and Manny Pacquiao.

It was the most lucrative bout in boxing history.
Tennis titans Roger Federer ($67.8m) and Novak Djokovic ($55.8m) retain their top 10 spots in a list that includes stars from 10 different sports.
      The 100 highest-paid athletes come from 23 countries, with a majority of them -- 65 -- Americans.
Amongst those is golfer Jordan Spieth ($52.8m), whose rise from 85th place last year to ninth this time makes him the biggest mover on the list after a year that includes a big-money FedEx Cup success.
Basketball stars LeBron James ($77.2m) and Kevin Durant ($56.2m) occupy third and fifth places, but baseball is the most heavily represented sport on the list, boasting 26 names.
Basketball has 18, American football 21 and soccer 12.

The Forbes figures include all salaries, prize money and bonuses paid out between June 1 last year and the same date in 2016.
The magazine says its calculations are "based on conversations with dozens of industry insiders" and adds: "We do not deduct for taxes or agents' fees, and we do not include investment income."

Last year, leader Mayweather raked in $300m, almost double the tally of second-placed Pacquiao, the man he defeated in Las Vegas.
That put him at the summit of the Forbes list for the third time in four years, with his huge earnings dwarfing the previous record set by Woods, who banked $115m back in 2008.
