Cars and bikes have not really changed in the past few decades, in terms of structure and design. Of course there have been alterations in terms of performance and style but the premise of a car and motorbike has remained the same, up until now.
The Toyota i-Road is a new concept in urban mobility and combines the potential of cars and bikes into one machine. The i-Road is based on future urban transport, and Toyota have worked to ensure next generation performance in terms of driving, size and environmental output.
The left and right wheels move up and down independently synchronised in response to the steering wheel and the vehicle automatically selects the optimal lean angle when cornering. The i-Road is only 870mm wide making it the perfect city run around and it only takes up half a parking space. It is as easy to use as a motorbike but without the hassle of being exposed to the elements, however, the crucial thing about it is that it is powered by lithium-ion batteries and can travel 50km on one charge.
These new vehicles look amazing and definitely seem like a lot of fun to drive. Would you want to take to the wheel of one of them?
